Corn Chowder for a warm cheap meal.

The temperature really took a nose dive here in NH this past weekend and it was cold!  We heat primarily with wood in the winter so it’s nice and toasty in the living room near the wood stove but it is down right chilly in other rooms.  I had made the apple crisp on Sunday for dessert and when I was done I put the oven on to clean.  It did kind of warm up the kitchen a bit.

Anyway,  I love soup in the winter.  It’s cheap to make…seriously a bit of bacon, onions corn and potato is all that is in this but it is so delicious.  I made some wheat rolls to go with this and it was just what I needed.  I was warmed inside and out.

Corn Chowder

3 Pieces of Bacon chopped

1 Medium onion chopped

5 medium potatoes peels and chopped (you can leave on the skins if you want just wash the potatoes well before chopping

1 32 ounce container of chicken broth

1 can creamed corn

2 cans evaporated milk

1 bag frozen corn
